Good news at the doctor‘s office today. I was accepted into the Lenalidomide study group and I’ll be starting Friday. I’m back with my normal “onchie” instead of the transplant or radiation doctors. I’ve gotten to know my doc and her nurse very well, so it‘s nice to see them again. My doctor immediately had me piled up with all the forms, tests, and more tests in order to join the Lenalidamide study group. She also squeezed in a double-hip bone marrow biopsy and an EKG. These ladies don‘t waste time.
I learned a lot more about the Lenalidomide study today, too. Apparently, it works with sort of a new approach to cancer therapy. The idea is to get the cancer stabilized so it’s not growing or spreading at all. They are also finding that patients are having such a good response to it that their cancers shrink and achieve remission. If all goes as planned, this will be my experience with it. At some point, my doctor will decide that the cancer is in remission enough and we’ll go ahead with the transplant. I don’t know what the worst outcome could have been like today, but I definitely feel after seeing the doc that I had the best outcome.
And best of all, I won’t have to cancel my tropical vacation I have planned in December! My doctor seems determined that we will work that out. I’m glad they’re working on my side. On top of all this, my husband and I are celebrating our 1st wedding anniversary on Sunday. We’re going to sit on a rooftop downtown and eat ourselves silly. This should be a fun weekend!
Praying for you and keep up your good spirits.
Happy Anniversary!
The idea of you two sitting on a rooftop eating yourself silly gives me the impression that you enjoy every minute of your lives. Stay in the moment…do not venture into the future of look back into the past. We do not know what is ahead and the key to life is living in the moment. Keep us posted on your treatments and your success means success for others. A great moment for you inspite of your cancer. My prayers are heading to the rooftop.
Sounds like this trial is just the ticket! Good thoughts are coming your way. Keep us posted.

I am so glad to see they are taking such good care of you. I was diagnosed five years ago and the first doctor wanted to immediately go in and take not just the cancer invovlved breast but both and then hit me with chemo. When I went to MD Anderson they told me they had found that it was best to shrink the tumor as much as possible and get it in a contained site before surgery as they had found that it was apt to spread if they didn’t first try to shrink it. That was five years ago, I still have one breast and have been cancer free since Radiation in Aug 2004. My prayers are with you. Sharron
